Abstract
Baxi examines the intersection of judicial privilege and public law through the lens of toll exemptions for judges. He uses this seemingly minor issue to discuss the broader "culture of exception" and the "rule of law." The article questions whether such exemptions create a distance between the judiciary and the common citizen’s lived reality. Baxi argues that judges must be seen as "servants of the law" rather than a "privileged caste."
