Abstract
This piece explores the symbiotic relationship between a fearless Bar and an independent Bench. Baxi argues that judicial independence is hollow if the Bar is intimidated or co-opted by the state. He highlights the role of lawyers as "sentinels on the qui vive" who protect the rights of the marginalized. The synopsis emphasizes that any attempt to stifle the legal profession—through regulation or threat—is an indirect attack on the judiciary’s power to provide justice.
