Abstract
This article addresses the historical underrepresentation of women in the Indian judiciary. Baxi moves beyond "tokenism," calling for a "New Deal" that ensures gender diversity at all levels of the court. He argues that a gender-diverse bench brings "different voices" and lived experiences that enrich judicial reasoning, especially in cases of gender-based violence and family law.
