Abstract
Baxi discusses the increasing presence of women in the legal profession as a "new deal" for justice. He argues that the "feminisation of the bar" is not just about numbers but about changing the "culture of law" to be more empathetic and inclusive. The article highlights the barriers women still face—from "gendered stereotypes" to lack of representation in the higher judiciary. Baxi advocates for a "gender audit" of the legal profession.
