Abstract
Baxi argues that human rights should be viewed as an ongoing "learning process" rather than a static set of rules. He emphasizes the importance of human rights education in fostering resistance against injustice. Rather than a Western imposition, Baxi frames rights as a universal language born of human suffering. He calls for a "pedagogy of the subaltern," where the marginalized are taught to use the law as a shield. The article suggests that true human rights progress requires a cultural shift toward empathy and a constant willingness to challenge the "sovereign" when it behaves as an oppressor. In India Legal.
