Abstract
This article analyzes the Supreme Court’s intervention in Goa’s mining sector, emphasizing the "Intergenerational Equity" principle. Baxi argues that natural resources are held in "trust" by the state for both current and future generations. The Court’s decision to cancel mining leases due to illegalities is hailed as a victory for "environmental constitutionalism." Baxi emphasizes that economic development cannot be used as a cover for "crony capitalism" or ecological destruction.
